Give It Away: Issac and Rebekah
This weekend we are continuing our series called, “Give it Away: A Lesson on Loving Actions,” and we’ll learn about a woman who did more than she was asked to do.
On board the yellow submarine, our friend Freddy the Fish comes to visit us so that his parents can’t ask him to do any more chores around the house. We tell Freddy that it’s always nice to do more than you are asked to do. We tell him the story of Isaac and Rebekah in Genesis 24.
A man named Abraham wanted his son Isaac to get married, so he sent his servant to another town to find Isaac a wife. When the servant reached the town, he stopped at a well and prayed that God would help him find the right wife for Isaac. When the servant opened his eyes a girl named Rebekah was getting water from the well. The servant asked her for some water and she gave him some. Then, she got water for all ten of the servant’s camels too! When Rebekah did the extra work without being asked, the servant knew that she was the woman Isaac was supposed to marry. Rebekah traveled back home with the servant and married Isaac.
The story helps Freddy to realize that he should go help his parents clean up. He learns that a little extra work can be hard, but it shows people how much you love them and it makes God happy too! See you this weekend!
