The Lost Sheep
This weekend we are continuing our series called, “Friends Forever: a lesson on the love of Jesus” and we will learn that Jesus takes care of us.
On board the yellow submarine, our friend Freddy the fish tells us his parents got him a new backpack for Kindergarten. Our turtle, Dexter, is sad because he thinks his parents forgot that he needs a backpack for kindergarten too! We tell Dexter that he shouldn’t worry because his parents always take care of him and so does Jesus. We tell Dexter and Freddy the story of The Lost Sheep found in Luke 15:1-7 and Matthew 18:12-14.
The story is told by Jesus and is about a shepherd who had a hundred sheep. One day, one of the sheep wandered off. Jesus said the shepherd left his whole flock of sheep to go looking for the one who was lost. He said the shepherd was so happy when he found his sheep because he didn’t want to lose any of them. They were all special to him.
Jesus cares about us just like the shepherd cared about his sheep and Jesus will always take care of us!
