12 Spies visit the Promised Land
Over the next four weeks, we will be learning about the Israelites’ journey to the Promised Land and how we can trust that God always keeps His promises. This weekend we will hear the story of twelve spies who were sent to check out Canaan, the land God had promised to the Israelites. When the spies got there, they saw that the land was beautiful and there was plenty of food, but there were already people living there. In fact, the spies went back home and told everyone that the people living in the Promised Land were giants and they felt like grasshoppers next to them! Ten of the spies said that there was no way the Israelites could go in and take over the land. Two of the spies, Joshua and Caleb, believed in God’s promise to them and tried to convince everyone that they could take over the land. Joshua and Caleb stood up for what they knew was right. They trusted and believed God. Unfortunately, no one else did, and the Israelites had to wait a very long time to enter the Promised Land.
See you this weekend!
